Kanilea is a Hawaiian Ukulele company that is consistently giving the world excellent ukulele’. They are located on our island of Oahu, and we are always stoked to go see them, and get new instruments. This week we picked up 3 satin instruments from them in three sizes, soprano(or standard), concert, and tenor. Many people prefer the gloss finish, and Kanilea does a great gloss (I judge a gloss finish by its glassiness). However, the satin finish has such an open, uncompressed sound. It’s almost like you can hear the woodiness of it. The Kanilea ukulele have a unique voice. It is very clean and articulate which makes it great for retaining clarity, especially if you are strumming. Kanileas’ have a wonderful Hawaiian quality and is one of the few companies showing that Hawaii still makes the best ukulele!
