A Dangerous Spin on Uke Tone!

I’m talking about the ceiling fan in my office. It terrorizes my sweet ukulele sounds. Sucks them in and chops them up like a sushi chef.
What am I talking about? The vibrato created by my fan makes uke play unbearable! So I turn it off, but it gets hot!

Have fan companies addressed this problem with their circulation methods? I think I need one that blows around my sound waves. hmmm…I might need access to the next dimension. 🙁 Any better ideas?

  1. WOW!!! Hadn’t thought of pumping the uke through a genuine Leslie speaker….. ( Well I had actually – but not yet tried it) I think you just need a foot switch, perhaps a variable speed control to achieve some fantastic sounds…… Try Whiter Shade of Pale and see what happens 🙂

thanks Phil, I have one of those in my living room but they’re loud. I was actually planning on getting one for the office though. Wish they weren’t so loud.

  2. A wet bandana and a Slurpee should do it, Andrew.

Either that or–I can see it’s glittering neon sign now–Hawaiian Music Supply Vancouver.

Has a nice ring to it.

Wet bandana and slurpie! That sounds like fun!
“Why do you have a wet bandana on?”
      “To play ukulele!”

  3. I had a similar bad vibration happen while camping. I was playing my Kala when off in the distance I heard a couple yelling at each other about who knows what. Ah, the great outdoors! They need ukulele’s to put smiles on their faces like the smile I have each time I play

Ahh, couples emitting their poisons on each other. I’m no stranger to that vibe. Uke could help but we have repaired ukes that one mate broke over the other. And one that was thrown out of the car during a squabble.

Hmm, but then I’ll have to put aircon in the other rooms or everyone will want to hang out in my office. Seems like a logical solution though. thx Chun

ya, that’s what phil was saying. I have one, but they’re quite a bit noisier.

  4. Try reversing the rotation so it blows up instead of down and use the lowest speed.

  5. Andrew, check out this line of fans specifically. I don’t work for any of the impacted co’s here, just sharing some love about a great and under known recent style of ceiling fan.

We put one of these in our great room and it is very quiet, moves a lot of wind at slow ant fast speeds and uses very little electricity to boot! The reviews will tell you more.

Good luck keeping the office cool and less choppy and thanks for the great work you all do.

    Aloha,
    Bill W.
