In this review we took four locally made standard(soprano) ukes and tried them back to back. We had the 4 Ks, Kamaka, Kanilea, Koolau, and KoAloha. Ko’olau with Ko’olau Alohi Strings , Kamaka with Kamaka strings , KoAloha with Worth strings, and Kanile’a with Aquila strings.
Sound
The Ko’olau ukulele company is putting out professional level Hawaiian made ukuleles that sound and look great, and now are more affordable than ever.
Size
The guys at Koolau have somehow managed to make a Hawaiian koa ukulele at the price most of us here can afford.

This uke was not as boomy it’s tenor big brother we had in recently, but it has a wonderful warm balance of tones.
